National Hostage and Wrongful Detainees Day

Show your support for the first national holiday recognizing U.S. citizens who have been kidnapped abroad.

March 9th, 2024 will mark the first nationally recognized National Hostage and Wrongful Detainee Day which calls on leaders, including the President, to issue an annual proclamation that recognizes the plight of

these Americans illegally detained abroad, and to prioritize their freedom. You can show your support this March 9th by “flying” the official flag as your profile photo on social media.

To update your profile picture first download the black and yellow Hostage & Wrongful Detainee image to your desktop. You can do this by right-clicking on the  image shown on this page, and selecting “Save As” from the window that appears.

To Change your Profile Photo on Facebook:

  • Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook, then click your profile name.
  • Click  in the bottom right of your profile picture.
  • From here, you can select a photo or upload a new one.
  • Follow the instructions on the screen to save your changes.

To Change your Profile Photo on LinkedIn:

  • Click the  Me icon at the top of your LinkedIn homepage.
  • Click View profile.
  • Click on your profile photo in your introduction section.
  • In the Profile photo pop-up, you can:
    • Click  Edit, to crop the photo, use photo filters, adjust, change the position and size, rotate or change the visibility of your profile photo.
    • Click  Add photo and follow prompts to change your profile photo.
    • Click  Frames to add a frame to your profile photo.
    • Click  Delete to delete your photo.
  • Click Save photo.
To Change your Profile Photo on Instagram:
  • Click your profile picture on the left to go to your profile.
  • Click Edit Profile.
  • Click Change profile photo.
  • Click Upload Photo, then select your picture to import.

To Change your Profile Photo on X:

  • Navigate to your profile page. If you’re using the Twitter mobile app, select the Me button. If you’re on a desktop web browser, select the Profile icon near the upper-right corner, then choose View profile.
  • Locate and select Edit Profile. Your profile settings will appear.
  • From here, you can upload a new profile picture and header image, add details to your Bio section, and more.
  • When you’re done, select Save to save your changes.
