The “Walking Wounded”: Here-and-Now Coping Strategies to Ease Reintegration

Although researchers and civilians acknowledge common struggles such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and suicidality, they often fail to recognize the challenges of reintegration, which include a crisis of identity and feelings of alienation. These additional stressors make returning home a difficult and even harrowing experience, instead of a welcomed relief.
