David McGowan

David McGowan is Vice President-Corporate Security Executive and Head of National Security Services at Kaiser Permanente, one of America’s leading health care providers and not-for-profit health plans, with an annual operating revenue of almost $89 billion. Kaiser Permanente is often referred to as the model for the future of health care and serves more than 12 million members. Founded in 1945, Kaiser Permanente pioneered the integrated delivery model, which, through partnership between Health Plan, hospitals, and the Permanente Medical Group, delivers high quality, coordinated care to members.

In his role at Kaiser Permanente, David ensures a safe care environment in all operations and administrative spaces for members, staff, and providers.

As part of Kaiser Permanente’s national leadership team, David leads Security’s technology applications and innovation, threat management, physical security operations and programs, and executive protection.  David has also worked across all Kaiser Permanente departments to ensure a coordinated, safe, and effective response to COVID-19, including standing up protection and access control operations for mass vaccination centers, COVID-19 testing, health screenings, vaccine security, and staff attestation kiosks. David is based in Kaiser Permanente’s headquarters in Oakland, CA.

Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2020, David was Vice President-Global Protection Services for Tiffany & Co for over 24 years. And prior to his work at Tiffany & Co, David was Director of Loss Prevention and Safety for Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation.

David currently is a member of the Board of Directors for The Global Center on Cooperative Security.  David also has been a Board Director for the International Security Management Association (ISMA) since 2015 including President of ISMA from 2019-2020.

David holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science from The College of the Holy Cross, Worchester, MA.
